Do you need more Kallax cubes?

Hand-picked for this exact result — no generic lists.

Measure once. Trust the estimate.

A standard jewel case is 14.2 × 12.5 × 1.05 cm — a Kallax cube fits a single neat row of them.

  1. Separate your case types.

Jewel cases, slim cases and digipaks have very different thickness — measure each stack.

  2. Count spines, not discs.

Multi-disc sets in fat cases count as one thick item.

  3. Leave flipping room.

A 5% allowance keeps the row browsable instead of wedged.

  4. Mind the depth.

CDs are only ~14 cm deep in a 39 cm cube — push them flush to the front.

Worked example

One concrete case, with the assumptions spelled out.

2×4 Kallax of jewel cases

At 1.05 cm per case, one cube holds about 30 CDs. Eight cubes give 240 CDs.

ƒ(x)per cube = floor(33 ÷ (thickness × (1 + allowance ÷ 100)))
